After last night's full moon, Symi today was hot and windless. People were fishing around the Roloi watching the usual traffic of boats and yachts, new chairs and tables were delivered in front of Mihalaki and there was a painting exhibition at the Nireus hotel.

Harbour Chaos --> 14 May: 19 photos

The wind has picked up here in Symiland. Gulets and yachts are trying to moor but keep going round in circles. Two gulets have given up, as have two yachts. One other yacht got it's anchor caught with another, and the shouts could be heard on the other side of the harbour.

8th May Celebrations --> 8 May: 82 photos

Today is the 63rd anniversary of the signing of the treaty at Catherinettes to handover the Dodecanese to the Allies and Symi celebrated in style with a grand parade. High renking government officials including the Defence secretary Mr Mihalis Meimarakis, and many other representing the Greek Parliament, all major political parties and local authorites gathered in front of the wall memorial in the most well-attended ceremony for many years.

Getting Ready --> 7 May: 21 photos

Another very busy day at the harbour with 4 tourist boats arriving today. Symi is getting ready for tomorrow's 8 May parade commemorating the signing at Catherinettes of the treaty to handover the Dodecanese to the Allies. A number of government ministers and other officials are expected on Symi for tomorrow's celebrations.
