Yialos is Bustling --> 27 June: 19 photos

June is almost over and Symi gets busier by the day. Apart from the hundereds of day-trippers and dozens of yachts that come to the island on a daily basis, there is now a large number of people staying overnight. By early evening Yialos is bustling full of people walking and sitting down at a restaurant or a bar for the start of their evening.

Road to Nimborio --> 26 June: 19 photos

Passing Nos beach, the coastal road continues to Nimborio which is only 15-20 minutes away on foot. The scenery is spectacular with hidden coves, secluded beaches and fishermen's houses perched on the rocks.

Cooling Down in Horio --> 25 June: 21 photos

Despite the high temperature, one of the best times of day to eplore Horio is late afternoon when the day-trippers have gone back to Rhodes and very few people are out and about. After cooling down at one of the cafes at the top of Kali Strata, it's time to lose yourself in the Horio streets and alleys.

It's just before 1pm when Symi II docks in Mouragio and another few hundred day-tourists arrive to explore Symi. It's the best time of day to walk to Nos and beyond is and top up your tan!

44 In The Shade --> 19 June: 19 photos

At dawn this morning the temperature was 29 degrees. By early afternoon it reached 44 in the shade and the only releaf from the heat was on the beach with a cold drink or indoors under the air-condition!

Fire on Mavrovouni --> 18 June: 19 photos

At about 6pm this evening, a palm tree caught fire in the residential area of Mavrovouni in Yialos. Luckily and thanks to the quick reaction of the neighbours and authorities, fire was extinguished after about 30 minutes destroying the palm tree. It's not yet known how the fire started, though the field constable on the scene wasn't ruling our a lit cigarette as the cause. With the temperature reaching 40 degrees in the shade today, the risk of fire is very high and warning are issued all over Greece for everyone to be very careful.

George Bush on Symi --> 16 June: 29 photos

George Bush Senior arrived on Symi today on board a luxury yacht owned by the son of the late Greek shipping tyccon Yiannis Latsis. The ship is in Nimborio bay where the ex US President likes to jog. Meanwhile, The World is on Symi for a second night.

"The World", the largest private yacht in the world, arrived in Symi this afternoon. The ship has 165 residential units (106 apartments, 19 studio apartments, and 40 studios), all owned by the ship's residents.
