At about 6pm this evening, a palm tree caught fire in the residential area of Mavrovouni in Yialos. Luckily and thanks to the quick reaction of the neighbours and authorities, fire was extinguished after about 30 minutes destroying the palm tree. It's not yet known how the fire started, though the field constable on the scene wasn't ruling our a lit cigarette as the cause. With the temperature reaching 40 degrees in the shade today, the risk of fire is very high and warning are issued all over Greece for everyone to be very careful.
